There is a feeling that brings most people to me.
It usually arrives in the evening.
You walk through your own living room, and something registers. Not a thought exactly. More a small drop in the chest.
The room is lovely. You chose everything in it.
And still, passing through, you brace slightly, the way you would in someone else’s home.
You have probably never said this out loud.
It is the feeling that sends most people searching for a Feng Shui consultant Sarasota homeowners can actually talk to.
There is no good way to say it. It sounds ungrateful. It sounds like a woman with a beautiful house complaining about her beautiful house.
So the feeling stays. And you buy new cushions. And the cushions do not touch it.
Most people carry this for years, and the reason is almost always the same.
You do not know what kind of help this is.
It is not a decorator. Nothing needs recovering.
It is not a contractor. Nothing is broken.
And the word that keeps surfacing when you search, energy is the one that stops you, because you can already picture your husband’s face, and you are not entirely sure you would disagree with him.
So let me take the mystery out of it. Mystery is not useful to you.
This is what a Feng Shui consultant in Sarasota actually does, what happens in a Feng Shui consultation, and what it costs.

A Feng Shui consultant reads how energy moves through your home, and how that movement is affecting the people living inside it.
Placement. Flow. Light. Proportion. The relationship between one room and the next.
And then specific changes you can actually make.
Because I am also a working interior designer, those recommendations are never abstract. They are things you can do, in the home you already have, often without spending very much at all.
Feng Shui is not a religion. It does not ask you to believe anything or become anything.
It is a body of observation, refined over thousands of years, about how human beings respond to the spaces they live in. Where the light falls. What you can see from where you sit. Whether a room holds you, or hurries you through it.
The work begins before I walk through your door.
I ask for a floor plan, or a sketch if no plan exists. I ask which direction your front door faces. I ask how long you have lived there, and what was happening in your life when you moved in.
And I ask what is happening in your life now.
That question surprises people. Sometimes it puts them slightly on guard.
It should not. Your home is a support structure for a life. If nobody asks what the life is currently asking for, they are only rearranging furniture.
The first thing I notice is never the furniture.
I stand at your front door and pay attention to what happens as I cross the threshold. In classical Feng Shui the front door is called the mouth of chi, the opening through which everything enters. What happens in the first ten feet sets the tone for the whole house.
Then I follow the path energy takes.
Where it moves easily.
Where it pools and goes stale.
And where it runs straight through the house and out the sliding doors without ever pausing.
That last one matters enormously here. So many Florida homes have the front door and a wall of glass in a straight line. Beautiful. Also an exit.
Then three placements, because they carry the most weight:
For each one I am asking a version of the same question. Can you see who is coming? Is something solid behind you?
This is called the commanding position, and it is the most useful idea in Feng Shui for anyone who never intends to study it further.
And then the rooms you avoid.
Almost every house has one. A guest room that became storage. An office nobody enters. A dining room used twice a year.
Avoidance is information. It usually tells me something is stuck there, and it is rarely only furniture.
At some point I will lay a map over your floor plan.
It is called the bagua, and it divides your home into nine areas: wealth, reputation, relationships, family, health, creativity, knowledge, career, and the people who help you.
I use it as a diagnostic, not a doctrine.
If you tell me your work has stalled and the career area of your home is a laundry room stacked to the ceiling, I am not going to pretend that is a coincidence. But I am also not going to hand you a list of superstitions.
The map tells me where to look. What we find there is what we work with.
A written report, organized by priority rather than by room.
Three tiers. Changes that cost nothing and can be done this weekend. Changes that need a modest purchase. And changes that belong to a longer horizon, if and when you renovate.
Never more than about five things to do in the first month.
A report with forty recommendations is a report nobody acts on. I would far rather you move three things and feel the difference than read thirty pages and feel defeated.
It depends on the size of your home, whether we work together in person or remotely, and whether you want a single session or ongoing support through a renovation.
Residential consultation packages start at $750 for condos and higher for larger homes. Buisiness packages start at $1500 for offices and higher for retail establisments
A condo on Longboat Key and a five-bedroom home in Lakewood Ranch are not the same piece of work, and the number reflects that.
I work with homeowners across Sarasota, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Lido Key and Lakewood Ranch, and with clients in Naples, Tampa Bay and on Florida’s east coast.
As a certified Feng Shui consultant and a practicing luxury interior designer in Sarasota, I am usually called at a threshold. A move. A downsizing. A renovation. An emptying house. A chapter closing and another not quite started.
That is usually the right moment. A home is easiest to change when your life is already moving.
No.
This is the question I get from husbands, usually with folded arms, and I genuinely like it.
You do not have to believe that light affects your mood for light to affect your mood.
Most of what I recommend has a plain explanation sitting right underneath it. A bed you can see the door from is a bed your nervous system stops guarding. A path you do not have to sidestep is a path you stop bracing for.
You are welcome to take the practical explanation and leave the rest.
The room does not check what you believe before it responds.
Three questions. If two of them land, you have your answer about whether the feeling you have been carrying is real.
Turn one chair. Add two lamps at seated height. Put something with weight in the path between your front door and the back.
Then live with it for a week and notice what happens in your body.
Two to three hours in the home for a typical residence, plus preparation beforehand and the written report afterward. Larger homes take longer.
Please do not. I would rather see how you actually live. The pile on the dining table is information, not a failure.
No, though they overlap in my practice. Interior design decides what a room looks like and how it functions. Feng Shui decides how it feels and how energy moves through it. I work as a Feng Shui interior designer, which means you do not have to hire two people and hope their advice agrees.
Yes. I hold Feng Shui certification alongside a BFA in Interior Design, and I have practiced both for decades.
A consultation is a fraction of a project. Many clients start there precisely because it is the lowest-commitment way to find out whether the problem needs a designer at all.
Yes. I work from your floor plan, a compass reading and a video walkthrough you record for me. If the home is where you live and I can be there, I would rather be there. But a remote session gives you most of the value.
The feeling you have been carrying and not mentioning is not ingratitude.
It is information.
And in my experience it is almost always accurate. People are far better at sensing that a room is working against them than they are at explaining why.
You are not imagining it.
If your home has been asking for something you cannot quite name, that is usually the right moment to look at it properly. Book a Feng Shui consultation and let us find out what it is saying.
Elevate Your Space. Awaken Your Soul.
